About Coach

Athletic, grounded, unapologetically myself and still finding growth at 47. I believe strength shows up in more ways than muscle, it’s in kindness, consistency, and showing up even when it’s hard. I’ve been married for twenty four years and im a mother of four children. Growing up, I’d always felt that I was an athlete inside of a body that society didn’t consider athletic. I’ve had pent up energy since I was a little girl but I never had an outlet to release it. So when I felt that I needed to work out, I started walking shortly after my second daughter was born. Miles and miles with my dogs for my mental health. I tried yoga, Pilates, and tried basic gym things but nothing stuck. The group aspect of CrossFit is what motivates me to keep going. The beautiful community at our gym makes me excited for every class I’m apart of. The only example of athleticism in my life was my dad, who weight lifted and did cardio when I was growing up. Now, I love that I can be an example for my children and my community of a healthy relationship with exercise, like my dad was for me.

Turning Point

During Covid, the walks that I had been going on were not fulfilling my mental health needs. Financial, family, and personal struggles were piling on top of me and I started to feel trapped and desperate for any sort of release. I had hit a bout of depression that was hard to climb out of. One day I was out with my husband, and he suggested getting a personal trainer. On our way home, we happened to see the gym just after having that conversation. The next day I walked in and the rest was history. CrossFit provided me a way to turn off my brain. When I’m there for that one hour, I don’t have to think about anything except being in my body and encouraging others. It gave me freedom from my anxiety and the longer I went, the bigger that freedom got and the smaller the anxious voice in my head became. I’ve been with this gym for four years now and I love it more every day.

Motivation & Passion

Part of the love I have for the workouts is encouraging others. I know that I love being encouraged and I get to do that for others. What made me want to be a coach was to have the opportunity to help others on their journey. It’s such a gift to play a small part or even be able to witness something as beautiful as someone’s transformation physically or mentally. Watching a friend reach a goal and be so proud of themselves for the work they put in for it. We get to celebrate these things every day together. In this community I feel we have become more than just people who workout together. We struggle together, encourage together, celebrate together, cry together, and laugh together. We are a chosen family. What better motivation could one have than to live a long healthy life with your family.
